Why these numbers are worth trusting
The forecast comes straight from Open-Meteo, and the typical frost dates are averaged from the actual sub-zero nights in the last 5 years of daily records — not from monthly averages, which smooth frost away entirely. The crop thresholds are the same numbers our gardening game runs on: each crop has a real damage point and a real kill point.
One honest caveat: weather data is gridded, so it flattens terrain. Hollows, rooftops and open beds freeze earlier than any grid figure suggests. Treat these dates as a guide, not a guarantee.
Want to watch it happen?
We built a gardening game where the weather is your weather. Plant a tomato and it grows on your city's real forecast, day by day — one game day is one real day. When a frost like the one above arrives, it really does bite the plants.
